Foreword
Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, UiTM

On behalf of the Faculty of Pharmacy UiTM, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to this prestigious event, International Brain Research Organization-Asia Pacific Regional Council (IBRO-APRC) Associate School 2021. We are happy be the host yet again after a successful Associate School in 2018. However, with this COVID-19 pandemic that we are all facing at the moment, proudly to say, we managed to organise this year’s event virtually.

The Faculty of Pharmacy UiTM, strived to achieve excellence since its inception. Based on the most recent QS subject ranking, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, UiTM is in the top 250-300 in the world, which showed our strength in teaching and learning, research and industrial and community engagement. Our MoU partners encompasses all the various continents where activities have been activated either in teaching and learning or research. With the shift of using the online platform especially in teaching and learning, different expertise from different universities and industries was used to achieve better quality of education and research excellence.

This IBRO-sponsored Associate School is supported by the eight research clusters of the faculty, spearheaded by the Bioactive Molecules and Drug Discovery Cluster which includes the Brain Research Laboratory. Their research focusses on two of the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders; Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. This year we have prominent researchers from USA, Canada, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia, whom will be giving great and interesting talk that will definitely benefit all participants.

Last but not least, I hope this event will be a start to future collaborations among the participants. Let this be a start to a beautiful friendship with a hope to create a bond to further grow together. Each and every one of us have our own unique strength and if we combined these strengths together, we could definitely reach higher and achieve more ESPECIALLY in this VUCA world that we are facing and living now.

Wishing you a splendid and fruitful event.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shariza Sahudin
